Curiosity in Motion: Calista Brings Marine Science Pilot Program to the Green Bay Kroc Center

On June 17, 2026, The Calista Initiative brought Curiosity in Motion — The Calista Youth Marine Experience to the Green Bay Kroc Center, introducing 22 young learners to the wonders of marine and freshwater science through two interactive pilot sessions.

The program was designed to make science approachable, engaging, and fun through hands-on experimentation and real-world connections.

Students explored buoyancy and density by designing clay boats, testing whether their creations would float, and discovering how shape and displacement affect an object's ability to stay afloat.

The excitement continued with the Cartesian diver, a simple but fascinating demonstration showing how changes in pressure affect buoyancy. Students watched as a small diver moved up and down inside a sealed bottle, revealing scientific principles through observation and discovery.

Beyond the experiments, students learned about careers in marine and freshwater science, discovering how scientists, explorers, engineers, and other professionals use science to study and protect our waterways.

The Kroc Center pilot marked an important milestone for The Calista Initiative, demonstrating how interactive learning can spark curiosity and help young people see science in an entirely new way.

Curiosity Runs Deep.
